Day 18 - 08/20/22 - At Sea to Newfoundland
This was another packed sea day. While it was foggy and chilly outside, we certainly had lots of activity today starting with the coffee chat. This morning's chat featured Andrew Grose, our Canadian comedian. He related that he refused gigs on cruise ships for many years. Finally, the agent prevailed and booked him on a Princess ship. He did the gig and came back home and contacted his agent asking what they thought of his act. Was I any good? "What did they think of you?", the agent responded. "They want to sign you to a 9 month contract!" Andrew delivers fast, clean, and very funny comedy. He noted that he's now booked through the end of 2024! He has two stock and different shows that he and his wife have written.
He has a little unicorn (Ramsey) that travels with him and he takes pictures of the unicorn in worldwide locations. People pay $5/month on Patreon to see where the little guy is. This brings in $700 per month!
Next was an EXC talk on the Supernatural
Dr. Michael Douglas did a reprise of his photography talk. We then enjoyed lunch with cruise blogger, Pete (The Inside Cabin) and his wife Judy up in the NY Pizza area. We chatted extensively about blogging and computers and software helpful in blogging and traveling. It was a fun time spending time with a person that I have followed for many years.
At 2pm Dr. Douglas presented a session on weather. Attendance was down for this presentation. We attended the Meet the Musicians from the Rolling Stone Rock Room. While we don't attend this venue because of the sheer loud noise, the session was really interesting. All of them have successful musical careers outside of this gig, and one even produces for the others! Afterwards, we moved across the hall to play musical trivia with Gabe & Meaghan from Billboard Onboard. It was hard trivia in that they only played a few notes of the song.
We enjoyed another wonderful dinner in the Tamarind before watching One Step Dance Company perform Musicology which we've seen many times.
We wrapped up the evening at Billboard Onboard for the One Hit Wonders set before retiring for the evening.
