Day 08 - 08/10/22 - Scenic Cruising Prince Christian Sund, Greenland

In some ways I hate scenic cruising days.  This is because generally it means getting up early.  And this day didn't deviate from that. Our alarm went off at 7am and Angela turned on the bow camera and we listened to BettyAnn's opening message.  It looked cloudy and hazy so we rolled over and dozed for another hour before getting ready for the day.

I went to the Lido for my customary breakfast.  The cooks on this ship don't recognize my daily routine just yet after a week, and I have to be very specific about my '2 eggs over broken' request. I still get quizzical looks at my request.

After breakfast I went out in the bow from deck 5 and stayed out there for the next 4 plus hours.  For much of the time I was next to a couple from Texas who are also CPA's.  It turned out the Suzanne and Byron  were employed in the same Haskins & Sells  CPA office in Los Angeles just after I was in the early 1970's.  It's a very small world!  The weather on deck was sunny, clear, and quite chilly at times.  Most everybody wore warm clothes.

I'll not describe the scenic cruising on a blow by blow basis as there was simply too much to comment on.  We passed numerous glaciers of varying size, a small village of Aappilattoq, many waterfalls, numerous fault lines, ice bergs, and even a small luxury cruise ship Scenic Eclipse.  In front of one of the glaciers The ship did a double 360° rotation before sailing the last portion of the transit.  After passing a very remote weather station, we broke out into the open ocean with lots a very large icebergs. As we turned on a north easterly course we were treated to spectacular views of the Greenland east coast.  The scenic cruising was the best we have ever experienced and we've cruised Alaska, Norway, & the Chilean fjords.  That view persisted all the way through our Lido dinner.  We decided to pass on further evening activities and go to bed early.  We also are having to set our clock ahead an hour. Angela ended up watching a movie, Clifford, on the stateroom TV while I promptly fell asleep. I woke up at 12:30am and found that the internet had been restored so I undated my blogs.
